Winter is coming!

A very early Orion imaged during 3 mornings between 4:30 and 5:30.

Image is a composition of LRGB and iR pass (> 685nm). 45x120s L, 15x120s each RGB, 15x120s iR. The iR channel went into L as 30% and R as 50%.

Not much processing and please excuse the channels not being properly aligned, it's not coma. There's gonna be an issue with some halos, though.

Clear skies!

Edit: new version

And L (LP with iR/UV cut) vs iR (iR pass) comparison. The amount of data is not the same, but you can see a difference in the number of visible stars and some different structure.

It's always a nice feeling to bag your first m42 of the season.

Nice image

Thanks!

Yes, it is. It's also my first go at it with the 130pds. Aperture really matters. This was shot under light pollution, perhaps a Bortle 7 sky and it went from 20 degrees altitude to 30 degrees only. In about 2 months I will restart and image only above 30 degrees and perhaps make a 2 panel mosaic with this scope to widen the area. Perhaps I will add some refractor data too. Once I will go above 10h, I expect a significant better result.
