removing a dslr sensor filter for better ha response

i have the d5300 and am toying with the idea of removing the filter from the sensor just not sure on a couple of thing's ie can i just remove it and job done or do i have to replace with a different type of glass filter? i feel i dont have anything to lose by trying i should be able to reinstate the fliter if i decide to reuse the camera for daytime work thanks

If you look up camera modding there will be a few  that do Canon's and few a far between that do nikon, a friend asked Juan from cheapastrophotography  to do his Nikon and he said it was far too difficult.. There is someone that' just had his Nikon modded..can see if I can get his number if you like?
