Did anyone else spot the very bright star, as luminous as Jupiter, in the low SE on Sunday 6th about midnight?

It appeared to be in the Ophiuchus iota ish Serpens area and faded within about a minute. I can't be move specific in area due to the server

light pollution here

Super novae and novae don’t brighten and fade as quickly as that, they take days or weeks. Most likely would be a helicopter or plane forward light, they can easily be confused with planets if heading towards you.

On the dutch astroforum I read a topic about the same flash.

According to this topic it was a out of duty satellite,  the Gorizont 29 launced in 1993.

Perhaps you can check this somewhere.

Thank you all for your replies.

It would appear no one else spotted this so it would appear to be local. My expectation is that it was a dreaded Chinese lantern hiding

in the bright sky which eventually ignited.
