DMK CCD - Capturing AVI's

Hi,

I used my DMK(DFK) colour camera for the 1st time last night on Jupiter, all was well ... except for a couple of

problems.

1> What is the AVI setting you use ?

it didn't work on Codec and only worked on "unspecified".

Is this the right one to use ?

2> How many AVI's can it take ? .. I took a AVI of 1900 images but after 870 it said "avi file compression".

Im used to using toucams(in the past) and Lumenera's where i can capture 2,000 files no problem and haven't had any AVI problems.

Is this common with the DMK's ? ... just wondering.

I'm using the USB version.

I select Y800 as the codec. Then select 30 FPS (60 FPS does not work for me).

I've taken shed loads of 900 - 1000 frame AVI's with no problems and a couple of 1800 frame AVI's again without any issue.

What is Y800 ? ... it gives me 3 options.

1. Codec

2. Can't remember

3. Unspecified.

I've tried the first 2, but it won't register in Registax 4, so it just leaves me with Option 3.

My AVI's did open and stack in REGISTAX ok.

If Registax does not like them then use Virtualdub.

Run the program in Virtual dub and save it as 'old style' (something like that anyway) and then Registax can see them.
