The Opposition of Jupiter, with the planet at its largest and best placed for viewing. Visual magnitude will be -2.5 and the apparent diameter 44.8 arcseconds.

The planet transits the meridian at 12.59am, when it will be at 22.6 degrees above the horizon. GRS will be transitting at 2.14am on 9th (don't get caught out by the date)

I seen the GRS for the first time on Sunday night at 2330

Well done on GRS. I always get caught out by how quickly oppositions come around! Must start getting some decent Jupiter time in.

Shadow transit and GRS around 9.30 to 10.30 this evening. Jupiter will be low around 15 degrees but might be worth a try as it’s looks like clear skies tonight.
