Date: 14 April 2018     Equipment: Lunt LS60 + double stack DS60

Conditions

Conditions were making tuning the scope and double stack tricky. Broken clouds continually passing thru :(

Observations

There were three areas of activity on the disk...

- The main region has grown from a few days back and now resembles a chinese symbol in shape. Active plage is visible down two legs of the shape. It has a couple of days or so left on the disk. It is now a reasonable size :)

- A second active region was seen down to the south. It was quite small but again active bright plage visible. There seemed to be a couple of pores around the edges of this region.

- A third tiny active region has just come onto the disk. It was very small but had bright plage within it.

Filaments were few and far between, probably less than 10 on the whole disk with no real shape/relationship to make them easier to describe.

The main proms were at the bottom with a nice "sail" shape prom which had a couple of smaller proms nearby. A couple of tiny proms were also seen up at 2 o'clock.

Worth a look if the cloud breaks overhead!

I got back out again around 5pm and was treated to an eruption at 1 o’clock position. Two “C” shapes of plasma grew out from the limb and eventually broke up and were pulled back in by gravity. Lasted a good 10 minutes or so...

Great stuff :)
