Finally got my guiding working,thanks all who give me the great advice, and this is my first pic.i know i have still got a lot of work to do,but i am now on the right track.

Final processing in GIMP,but dont know how to convert from there to jpeg.

Just copied this from Google:

To convert:

1. Open the XCF file using GIMP.
2. Click on File.
3. Click on Export.
4. Enter a filename. It'll be saved as PNG by default. You can use any other format by simply adding the extension to your filename (like image.jpg , image.bmp ) or selecting another file format in the bottom right of the export window.
5. Click on Export.

Look forward to seeing the jpg. I would do it myself but i do not have Gimp. Although Gimp is free....

I downloaded Gimp and did the export as jpg. Here you go Paul, the jpg version.

Does this help at all?  Does this look like the screen you have? I have highlighted the important bits red. The export name by default will be Whirl.png. You just delete the png part and replace with jpg and then hit Export.
