Yea, but the camera has a low light mode where it takes a rapid series of photos and combines them in camera. I think I used that mode here tho look at the ISO-6400!

Compact camera + static tripod. Neither of these are ever going to make AP easy. And ISO 6400 is never going to produce an image that is "low noise". But all-in-all, for what you were working with, I think that is a great photo. Well done.

Thanks. I need to get a phone adaptor, I tried getting a photo by putting it up against the eyepiece but its nigh on impossible to find the exit pupil in the dark

Something else to make it more difficult. I look forward to seeing your results when you try doing it the "easy" way .

I did manage to get a shot of M42 this way, holding the phone up to the eyepiece.  I got lucky with that one

Good start... a Nikon 3200 compact camera is the first image I took of Orion.... this is only the beginning.

Take a series of pics and stack them... the difference that will make to SNR is astouding.

I've taken photos of orion in the past on a film camera. Not with a scope tho
