Celestron 8SE Firmware For Motor Controller

Recommended Posts

Hi

Looking for a sanity check please.

A friend of mine has a Celestron 8SE which is not performing correctly with irratic slewing issues.

I've been helping to update but it's been a while since I last used Celestron.

Given the numerous checks carried out, I've included checking/upgrading the firmware.

We've gone from HC version 5.22.3280 to 5.29.7137

Yet the MC version remains unchanged at 5.14.5.14

Would it be possible for a fellow Nexstar user to check that we are as up to date as we can be ?

Next step is a return for servicing.

Thanks

Neil

Thanks Peter

Yeah she's tried various power supplies.

I think it's going back via FLO for a service.

Clestron pdf is dated may'17 and showing 5.29.6226 so I would assume that 5.29.7137 is the best available.

I'd hope that's all part of the service when the mount goes away.

Thanks for the reply

Make sure the scope is balanced OK on the mount. With my C8 on my 8SE goto mount I place the dovetail as for forward as the scope allows (basically until the OTA back of the tube hits the clamping area). If I have it any further back it becomes less accurate due to the weight been further back on the mount.
