Tracking query with Camera Lens

Hi all, looking at getting a decent mount EQ6 (Future Proof) and use my 7D with Canon 500L f4 lens. My query is, is it fairly easy to mount an auto-guider (Like This) to the lens?

Anyone had any experience in this, presume it all depends on the size of the lens (Collar).

Hi

Firstly I would just use a 50mm guide scope. I wouldn't think in terms of mounting on the lens as such. Rather via a side-by-side bracket or something similar. I thing Altair Astro do them. If you're good at diy you could probably make a custom bracket from aluminium bar. However you do it you'll have to think about getting balance right in ra, dec and vertically.

Side by side is easy.
If your mechanically minded it's possible to knock up almost anything but keep it rigid.
