so now i'm in a position to pull the trigger and buy a new mount, i'm stuck in a 1st floor flat, have kids every weekend (one not really old enough to leave) and have to be up at 6am during the week :/

so anyway, assuming i *do* get it, i'll have a surplus Vixen GP with eq5 upgrade plus the original Vixen motors and handset.

How much does anyone think it's worth?

Difficult to judge but in my opinion, worth a lot more than they usually fetch. Probably the most undervalued (financially) mount available.

As Peter says, considering the excellent quality involved, the Vixen GP's don't command particularly high values.

Fantastic, strong, solid and lightweight mounts. Would easily carry a 5" F8 triplet with 3 second damping time if on a solid tripod or pier. Usually they are sold far too cheaply on the second hand market. I paid £300 for mine but they often sell for less. Worth every penny!

I echo the 'trickiness' of this but do want to say, I have had and used a Vixen SP (prior to the GP) mount for nearly 20 years and it's very very well made and (for visual at least) I am very happy with it and still using it.
