Atik Filter Wheel and MaximDL...

Hi All,

Can anyone point me in the direction of the ASCOM Filter Wheel plugin for MaximDL 4? It just doesn't show in the list of available filter wheels, and I gather from the helpfiles you need a plugin.

Hi Roy,

Yup - read that - I have the ASCOM drivers - they came with the wheel. Whats missing is the MaximDL plugin referenced here: http://www.cyanogen.com/help/maximdl/ASCOM_Filter_Wheel.htm

Any ideas?

No idea m8 but there must be someone on the forum who is using the Atik filter wheel and controlling it through maxim.

Have you though about joining the maxim yahoo group or the Atik one for that matter, they might be able to help

Richie, have you installed the Ascom platform as well as the Maxim drivers. The plug in might be incorporated into the platform itself.

On the disk, in the software folder run "Atik Setup.exe", this installs the Ascom driver for the wheel

The ASCOM Filter Wheel driver is installed - it works fine - I've been playing with it.

The list of Filter Wheels in Maxim does not include ASCOM - thats the problem. According to Maxim, it should be a plugin for Maxim - thats what I am trying to find, NOT the ASCOM driver, I have that already.

In my versions of Maxim, when I select Camera Control -> Set Up Filter , the "Filter or Controlling Camera Model" lists ASCOM - is that what you want / have?

In the Advanced dialogue, you pick and configure for your specific wheel. When I try it tells me I have no driver - presumably if I had your Atik / Artemis driver copied into the Maxim directory I'd be in business?

Yes Mike - thats exactly it - its not on that drop-down list, despite the help saying it should be. I can only assume that my version is missing the Plugin for some reason....

Mine is v4.57 - which version is yours? I am wondering if its a v5 feature?

I've got 5.01 and 4.61 - it appears in both albeit a slightly modified dialogue in 5.01 to keep you on your toes.

Is that what you have?

Sounds like I have a working Maxim and you have a filter wheel - is this what they call a Mexican stand-off?

Ahhh - so it looks like I have an old version, cos I see that file, but its only 136kb, and dated 22/12/2006...

Looks like I am going to have to upgrade

In Control Panel, Add or Remove Programs, you should see an entry for Ascom Atik Filter Wheel Driver 1.0

Hi All,

Problem solved - the ASCOM plugin for Filter Wheels does not seem to be included in MaximDL 4.57. I've downloaded the 5.01 demo, and the Atik filter wheel works perfectly.

Thank you Mike for the confirmation of version information - that was very useful in tracking this down.

Time to upgrade I believe
