storing a refractor

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I was wondering if you guys have any advice on storing refractors. I cannot set mine up permanently so whenever I am finished usingit I just put it back into the box it was delivered in (once its cooled down). Is this the right thing to do. I was thinking about purchasing an aluminium case for it but is this really necessary or can I get by with just the box.

Many Thanks

Deacon

See the problem is I live in a ground floor flat - I have a shed but i am worried that someone would break in and pinch the scope so thats why I need to bring it in the house after use. I try leaving it out until the morning to avoid condensation.

Hi - I have mine inside in its cardboard box. I use some silica gel packs to keep moisture down, but I always leave it to dry out after a session. It seems to be OK so far. I'm thinking of making a wooden box with foam inserts for it some time, but I've not got round to it yet.
