Cygnus at 50mm at the Peak District

Recommended Posts

This is my 2nd try out using the SW Star Adventurer mount, I used a 50mm f1.8 prime lens to capture this area in Cygnus. Taken with a Canon modded 1100D, 55x 1min at ISO800 with no LPR filter, no calibration files were used hence some nasties in the pic.

Looks great, lots of nebulae showing there :) Is that one of the Canon primes you've used and was it wide open or stopped down? It looks like a really nice lens.

EDIT: I think it's stopped down from the diffraction on bright stars, f/4?

At first thought you would not think that the 50mm prime lens would show such a wide field. Billions and billions of stars.

Impressive. Shows that you can do wide field with affordable lenses and mount.
