Kinesthetic chaos

and yesterday's chaotic activity was ...

Creating a human orrery with 21 reception class children. I have no idea how much they got out of the exercise but they seemed to enjoy it and the teacher went away happy and with a load of planet posters which she was going to use for a "solar system orienteering" exercise with them. But managing 21 children of that age to move synchronously is nigh on impossible!

At least it gave them an idea of what an orrery is and what it's to do with. They'll thank you for that later in life when they come across it and they're old enough to take a more constructive interest. :)

All good fun working with kids. May seem shambolic, but it's surprising how much
the little darlings do take in. They seem to be have the ability to laugh, make a lot of noise, and learn simultaneously.
As Kim said, they won't forget what you taught them, and some will relate the experience to others
when they are much older.  Your time was certainly not wasted.
You did a good thing, and they will appreciate it.
