DFK Problems - continue

Hi,

i did what i have been told, but it saids "wizard couldn't find any supporting devices"

and just gives me the cancel option only.

What else do i need to do, am i missing something ??

It saids that i need directx 9c on the imaging source website.

do i have to buy it ? is it a freeware download ? is this the supported software i need ?

Did you install the driver and application from the CD?

Have you tried connecting the camera before opening IC Capture, everything needed to run the DMK/DFK range is on the CD, are you using Firewire or USB.

USING USB....ok, i've everything...but it won't let me install the driver! ... installs everything else no problem.

Try attaching camera plug it into the USB then put CD in then click install driver from the options on the CD, or have you tried that?

yes, i've tried that....get the same answer back. i thought it wasn't reading the camera, but if i take out the usb lead it beeps....so its registering that there is something connected...i just don't know why it won't let meinstall the driver.....must be duff ???

Could try inserting CD and open it by going to my Computer…open DVD drive that the CD is in click explore..click explore driver right click the driver and try installing that way.

well i've just tried installing on my other pc...and it install no problem....sugaR....

I think the camera is a USB 2.0 device, is your puter equipped with USB 2 Ports.?

not good....my laptop can't be 2.0 then...thats why....anyway of getting around this????

You may be able to slot a PCMCIA USB 2 Card in your laptop, but take advice from an IT expert first. It will depend on how old the machine is I suspect.

James, you can look in the device manager again, and go down to the USB Section. If there is a + sign, click on it and in the results, check to see if the is an enhanced USB2 Controller.

If there is, then you have a USB2 port on the computer. How many USB PORTS are there all told by the way.?

yes, there is ! so that can't be the\ problem....

i'll try to use my usb extension module....see what happens, will let you know...

James, there may only be one of your USB outlets that is USB2, although I don't know for sure.

You may need to try them one at a time to find out.

In the Meantme, I have attached A pictorial representation of the Install procedure for the camera.

James, A quick thought, my camera works on XP, but I still can't get it to work with Vista, what operating system are you using when having the problems, and was the successful attempt on an XP laptop. They claim to have solved the Vista issue with the service packs (for IC software) but I still can't get to run. Thought this may be a possible reason.

I haven't taken any further as it works on another laptop and desktop no problem with XP.

im running xp....but see 1st post...i get this everytime i try to insatll the driver. Worked on my vista home pc with no problem...

well im going to send it back to the guy i was going to buy it of.

it just won't work on my laptop, for no reason at all....

James, Before you send the guy the camera back, could you check and see what Service Pack is installed on your machine. If you don't have Service Pack 2 Installed, then I don't think the Camera will look at your laptop.

You need to have a Genuine Windows XP OS Installed, and properly licensed.

You can check the Service pack on your Laptop by going into Device Manager again.

Right Click My Computer Icon, then left click on Properties. The Sevice Pack installed will be shown a third of the way down. If it shows Service Pack 1, I don't think it will work.

well i've downloaded and installed SPack 2 ... restarted, ,loaded up CD .... but nope...same message if it worked on my home pc, then at least i know it works.....but just not where i want it.

worth taking it in to PC World ?
