Cracking Jupiter tonight - 25th April 2017

Clear skies but the seeing is appalling once again. Even 85x shows layers of atmosphere/moisture wobbling across the surface. Been like that for days here. Maybe it's cooling rooftops but surely they'd be roughly to ambient now.

GRS heading towards transit right now, worth a look if you've got clear skies. Jupiter sitting very nicely just below the moon.

Yippee! I did see it. First time I was really convinced I had. I even picked up a salmon pink colour when the seeing steadied.

And on first light of part two of the Takquisition plan. Picked up a pristine FC76 Objective Upgrade unit along with a MK1 AYO mount on Saturday.

Set up with the 1.7 CQ module added once it was darkish. Not the best of positions looking over the rooftops and the moon so close. Best view was with an ES 82 4.7mm - around 200x!!. Seeing was fleeting here with occasional good moments.

And when I was finished I just picked up the whole lot and carried it back inside. Went to bed one very happy chappie! :icon_biggrin:

Sounds great! The 76mm upgrade is a lovely piece of kit, very sharp optics! :)

I think we need some pics :)
