IR pass filter or IR blocking filter

Hi can anybody help? Is it an IR pass filter or an IR blocking filter I need for modifying a webcam?

It's an IR BLOCKING filter you are looking for.

For a webcam -

IR pass is only recommended for mono imaging.

IR Block is ideal for imaging the solar system.

Neither has anything to do with modifying a webcam.

Modifying a webcam is mainly for advanced mono imaging of

the solar system and/or Long exposures for DSOs and that's a whole new

topic.

The UV/IR cut is normally a coating on the webcams lens so you have lost this filtering when the lens has been repalced by the 1.25" nosepiece adaptor so you just need to add this back using a suitabel 1.25" filter.

Hi Dean,

This thread pretty much covers the SC1 modification on the SPC900NC webcam.

I'd recommend getting some lunar / planetary imaging under your belt before trying DSO imaging. Imaging equipment and processing can be frustrating and there is a lot to learn, but it will give you a great sense of satisfaction too when it goes right
