Processed the data of the Iris Nebula from last night through Pixinsight. 25 x 300 sec lum binned 1x1, 25 x 100 sec Red, Green and Blue binned 2x2. Skywatcher ED80, HEQ5, Atik 460EX guided with ST80 and Lodestar. Seeing average. Work in progress - this is the first rough and ready processing.

 Beautiful target!

I certainly is! If ever you feel like torturing yourself to death (a surprisingly popular passtime amongst astrophotographers...) you could one day move over to the Praying Ghost nebula next door. Cepheus does more creative things with dust than you'd believe possible. :D

The colours on the second rendition are nicer ... You're losing some detail in the core though, so I'd be looking at processing the middle and outer separately then gently merging the layers.... best of both worlds then :)
