Meteor confirmation info

Recommended Posts

Hi all this maybe useful to anyone who was running their meteor detection via radio last night. I had my meteor cam on last night for the Persids and can confirm the following meteor events, date then exact time.

08/08/16 22:58:19

08/08/16 23:55:22

09/08/16 01:13:46

09/08/16 01:41:36

Maybe useful to confirm your station is working ok.

I was sat out in the garden between 12am and 12:50am, and saw nada, although I think I saw the one at 23:55 as I was finishing my session looking at M57, so decided to hunt for some more meteors around Perseus. I did manage to see M33 in my 15x70 binos as I was waiting though, so happy with that! :)

Unfortunately Carl, the radio detection of meteors generally makes use of the radio transmissions of the GRAVES facility in Dijon, and that is directed towards the South. So, in short, what we detect by radio reflection will not be observable in the UK.
