Saturn - 15th July

I'm not really kitted out for planetary imaging but decided to give it a try with the kit I have. So this is Saturn through my Evostar 120 on a motorised Omni CG-4 using my QHY5-II mono (ROI of 640x512), Revelation 2.5x barlow and my Baader UV/IR cut filter. I took 3x1000 frame ser's and stacked just 60 frames. The resultant image was then sharpened in ImPPG and tweaked in GIMP.

It's not going to win any awards but I'm pretty pleased with it. It's pretty much my first planetary image.

Looked at it briefly last night, but it wasn't best placed to observe well in higher magnifications. Always stunning though even at lower powers.

great shot Dave, ive only managed one saturn image this year, and still havnt managed to bag mars. you have some lovely detail for just 60 frames. well done. charl.
