Bino Pete
Which one is best? http://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/altair-ex-2x-ed-barlow-lens-2-barrel.html https://www.harrisontelescopes.co.uk/cgi-bin/sh000001.pl?WD=barlow&PN=Revelation_ED_2x_Barlow_2_.html#SID=565 or is there not much difference? Cornelius Varley
I wouldn't be surprised if the only difference was the label.
Putaendo Patrick
I've heard that the Revelation is a rebranded GSO. There are a couple of posts in SGL and it is well thought of. Like Cornelius Varley, I too wonder if the Altair isn't the same!
glowjet
As has been suggested it could well be a rebadged product, the Revelation does, however, have some positive feedback, but you would do well to wait a little while for any further comments that might be forthcoming, before spending your money. The Barlow you eventually end up with, should not detract or add to the field of view, if it does send it back. The more expensive optics, the higher the price of course, until you reach the TeleVue Powermates, which is about as far as you can go in terms of a quality product, but they do tend to leave rather large holes in your pocket
John
I'm sure they are exactly the same item. The barrel of these things is a bit too long for most diagonals so the barlow sticks out of the top a bit. With SCT's this is not really a problem because they have a lot of focus travel but some other scope designs can stuggle to get eyepieces too focus when using them.
