Sunspot 2529

This has proved to be a very active sunspot. Yesterday, just after noon, I observed an intense elongated flare, emanating from the edge of the umbra.

Ten minutes later the flare had gone. There were plenty of fibrils around this suspot. All-in-all, an impressive sight.

Just had to have a look at AR2529 this afternoon. Slight haze and cloud dodging with my Ranger, Giro, Thousand Oaks (Type 2+)* solar filter, 18mm AstroBoot & 6mm Radian e/p's.

The 18mm gave a nice full disc & 6mm... wow! nice close-up showing the shape of umbra and penumbra.

* glass/white light, full aperture.
