First light with new scope + first webcam of moon…

Still cloudy, but the brief glimpses I was getting of the moon through the patio windows had me setting up the ED80 for a quick peek. Had some fantastic spooky views through the clouds and even popped the webcam in just to mark the occasion.

It was boiling like a good un, the final image is a bit contrasty but it’s a start.

The scope performed well on its first brief outing.

Good start with the new scope.

The Moon is very useful for trying out new setups and finding out which bits of equipment will come to focus and of course its easy to find

How did the SLT mount handle the ED80

OK. The scope is longer and heavier. It’s certainly not as stable as the ST. It was also pretty gusty last night. Even so, so far so good…
