Quick DSLR Question

I have a canon eos 20d, I was wondering if anyone could tell me what the sensors equivalent would be if it was an eyepiece?

Do you mean what magnification you'll get when using your dslr at prime focus? That depends on the focal length of your scope.

I did a little test on my Sony a290 on my old tal100rs (1000mm fl) and the image in the chip was approximately equivalent to an image in a 20mm EP (50x)

i think there may be a way to work it out mathematically but I don't know it.

Just found this website which has a calculator work work out the magnification, you just need to know the chip dimensions of your dslr

divide the focal length of the scope by the diagonal size of the sensor, for the 20da the diagonal size is approximately 27.04mm.

It depends on the aFOV of the eyepiece. For a Plossl, somewhere between 20 and 25mm.

Use this site's Resources - Astronomy Tools. You can enter the data for your camera in the Field of View: Imaging tab. http://astronomy.tools/calculators/field_of_view/

The camera uses an APS sized sensor so any Canon camera with that sized sensor should do the trick.
