Filters for astrophotography

Just getting started in astrophotography and bamboozled by the choice of filters. I have a few 1 1/4" filters for my eyepieces but nothing I could use when attaching my camera direct. What filters are {mandatory) for astrophotography? and where in line would I attach them.

Sorry if the answers are abvious to all you guys. Help much appreciated.

If I'm correct (and I'm not good on filters!) the filters you have with you EPs (that came with your kit?) would be for visual only. I don't mind being corrected!

The main filter to use for AP is a light pollution filter, if needed. Ask on here for the best one. I have the Astronomik EOS Clip-in LPF for my canon. http://www.astronomik.com/en/clip-filter-system.html.

There are narrowband filters but they're for specialist AP so ignore those for now!

Do get the imagers' bible before you start imaging! Read and read and read . . .  http://www.firstlightoptics.com/books/making-every-photon-count-steve-richards.html
