skywatcher/celestron serial cable

Hi, can anyone tell me the difference between the handset end of skywatcher and celestron cables,i recieved a cable i ordered for my skywatcher synscan but it is too small a fit,i am thinking i was sent the celestron cable instead of the skywatcher.

The Celestron hand controller has a RJ11 plug, sounds like your controller has the bigger (network cable type) RJ45. Still you should be able to plug in the smaller RJ11 into the RJ45 port. The clip-in notch has to be centered but you can't really get it wrong unless you use too much force, almost self aligning... Except it will only use middle 4 pins instead of 8.

Plug it in and see if it works... I imagine it will since both hand controllers are based on the same circuit boards and ICs.

I think the Celestron cable uses a 4P4C plug (4 positions, 4 conductors) and the Skywatcher version is 6P4C (6 positions, 4 conductors). The 4P4C is 7.62mm wide and the 6P4C 9.65mm wide.
