DIY Motor Focuser with Arduino

I've been playing about with an Arduino board this afternoon and wondered if anyone had made an electronic focuser with one.

I've got it set up to rotate the stepper motor in both directions at variable speed using a potentiometer. Seems to work really well, just need to figure out the best method of attaching it to the focuser.

It can make really tiny movements as it has 2048 steps per complete rotation, at the moment it will do a full rotation in 6 seconds at full speed or 5 minutes (!) at minimum.

Just looking for hints if this has been achieved before.
