6" SCT with NEQ6

HI all.

I have a 6" SCT (fl=1500mm) Would this be ok on an NEQ6 mount? The OTA weights in at around 6kg.

Any thoughts on sub length guided and unguided?

The NEQ6 will be ore than ok on the 6" SCT... unguided subs length you can expect 2-3 minutes and longer than 30 minutes when guiding if accurately polar aligned. Of course you will be limited to the time it takes for sky glow to blow out your subs, but when exposing in narrowband I find guided subs upto a hour are good.

You should be fine. I've got a 6 inch SCT on an AZ-6EQ and no issues what so ever. 

Polar alignment is critical (and also fairly easy with the Synscan control). 

Around 2 min unguided subs should be reasonable.

Should be solid as a rock and very sweet after a good polar alignment.

I'm a little surprised at getting 2 to 3 minutes unguided with such a focal length. I've never tried my C8 in my NEQ6 yet for imaging which I don't have a dovetail on it yet to attach my guiding rig so perhaps il give it a go with the focal reducer soon to see what it can do unguided,

I would tend to agree with Dave.  That's a long focal length to be imaging at unless its very bright objects you are after.  What ratio of arc seconds/pixel will you hope to achieve with your setup?

The aim is for 1. We are currently at .6 with a view to getting .8 soon.

So...60 sec subs are no problem, which is fine for what I am doing.
