Stacking milky way shots

e other night I was trying to stack some milky way shots in DSS to see if I could get a better image. The picture itself showed the milky way very faintly so I was hoping to stack images to get a better image, however after stacking them I only got a grayish white image with slight dots. I was using darks and flats but I can't recall how many of each. Any advice to why this is happening or how to get a good image is appreciated! Here is a single frame.

What software are you stacking with? DSS?

DSS often produces a stacked image which looks very over exposed. Save the image as is, as a *.tif

Open the tif in your chosen editing package and adjust the curves and levels to get the exposure about right, then start playing with it to get it as good as possible.

I'm finding Milky Way stacking is hard.
