CG5 Question: Any way to circumvent star alignemnt?

Is there any way I can circumvent star alignment in the CG5 mount? I have a solar autoguider which does not seem to be working properly, and the manufacturer suggests that I do not do the star alignment procedure, but rather rely on straight tracking before calibration.

I believe if you select the 'Quick align' option from the menu the mount will just start tracking. Any help?

As I control my AVX via a PC I just select 'last align' from the Nextstar+ handset
