Attaching Bahtinov Mask

Recommended Posts

I just received my Bahtinov Mask today for my Skywatcher 200p. I ordered the 200mm F5 newt option from First Light Optics.

Can anyone advise me on how it is intended to attach to the scope? Its the Star Sharp branded mask.

It only comes with 2 plastic screws although there are holes drilled for 3. But I see nowhere for these to attach to the scope, unless the mask is intended to rest over the end of the scope.

Top tip:

Drill another small hole in the mask and attach a lanyard to it that can be hooked over the front of the OTA somewhere.  That way when you forget to take it off it won't fall on the floor and break :)

WOW Thanks for the quick responses!

Thats what i thought then, just needed that confirming.

I have a 3rd hole in mine which looks like it isn't for anything then, so I shall take your advice and pop a lanyard through it. #TopTip

Cheers all!

PS the rain is all my fault I'm buying lots of bits!
