First time in DSO section! M57

Last night we had a clearish night for a few hours so played around try to get everything to work. Here is my M57 taken with a canon 600d (moded) through a S 130 PDS at 800 iso , 10 145 sec frames stacked in DSS no darks flats or anything else. Had a little play in gimp.

Now for the questions, I was trying to guide with a SW auto guider and although I can get about 100 secs any thing longer and I get trails. Any Idea what im doing wrong?

Im not familiar with a sw autoguider but are you using phd to guide.

Hi, thanks for the quick reply, No it plugs straight into the mount so its all self contained, no need for laptop to be out.

Ok.

As I say not familiar with that set up but when guiding is off the usual culpeits are:

1. Polar alignment

2. Balance

3. Backlash in the gears

I qould sort out 1 and 2 and then try again.

Had a play with the image, although the trailing is not going to go away the look of the image is better,
