Not sure what ive just seen...

Hi guys and gals,  its David from salisbury here...new user name due to techno errors.

Just out with my 8" and with my eyes whilst looking up i saw two satellites tail chasing.  Moving quite fast, western sky and moving sw - ne, they looked a lot like the old ISS / Shuttle pair did, but i know that cant be the case now.   One was much brighter than the other, both keeping station on each other and about three fingers apart.

Any thoughts on what i might have seen?

My gut reaction is that you saw a pair of Chinese lanterns. It's caught me out before. I don't think that there is currently a resupply mission or crew rotation for ISS?

Oops! A quick Google reveals there was in fact a crew rotation last night. I suspect you saw ISS and the Soyuz catching up with it.

That must be a rare sight so see when you think of all the places it could be overhead.

Thanks.  Yes I just read the news about the resupply so I think that was it.   Thats twice ive seen that now, not a bad haul considering last nights was complete chance.

Good catch. Watching the shuttle chasing iss is still one of my top 5 views.
