Are there any that run off mains power supply ?

I presume by a dew zapper, you are talking about dew straps.

As far as I am aware, they all run off 12v. I would think that running them direct off 230v would be really dangerous.

It's not a good idea having mains voltages wrapped around a damp scope.

As far as I'm aware, they all run off 12V, but you can buy a mains to 12V transformer to avoid the need for a battery

I use a power supply adapter like one of these http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-60w-linear-acdc-fixed-voltage-12v-power-supply-l25ay with a twin socket adapter to run my mount and dew band controller. Its all in a water tight box which sits below the mount. Sorry if this is preaching to the choir, but make sure you protect your astro investments with a proper exterior extension lead with/and an RCD
