M101 Pinwheel Galaxy Widefield

Obligingly positioned near the zenith at the moment M101 is always worth a try.

M101 Ursa Major 15x 300s, 6" F4 Newtonian at F2.9, unguided, Fuji S5 Pro DSLR @ ISO1000, dark sky site in Mid Wales.

Nice! I'm currently grabbing for Lum data for this target as I type. Hoping the clouds keep away for the next couple of hours...

Its a cracking image. I hope to be able to produce something like this sooner or later. I was going to have a bash at this one, but at the last moment I decided to have a go at M97. Unfortunately I will need to wait until tomorrow to see the real results, once I have had chance to process them. I have some guiding issues that I need to sort so I don't think it will be anywhere near as good as this.

I'm lovin' it.  Loads of faint galaxies in there too. Works very well as a wide field.
