450d settings

Recommended Posts

Would any1 share thier 450d settings please ?

Gonna try some basic ap 2nite.

Thank you..

I can tell you what I use for DSO imaging on a HEQ5 pro with guiding.

ISO 1600

Exposure 600s~900s per sub ( 15~25 subs ) but sometimes shorter depending on the target and the scope in use which  mine are  between F3.5 and F6.

All noise reduction  set to off

Raw+ small Jpeg for capture to the laptop using APT or have the camera write to the card, Raw  for processing, jpeg for framing and general viewing.

For anything over 30s exposure you'd need an intervalometer , you can but decent ones from eBay for about £15.00.

Bias, Flats and sometimes Darks. Bias an Flats are mandatory ( 100X  Bias and 35X  Flats )

Hope you find this helpful.

ISO 800. Sometimes 400.

Manual

RAW only

With guiding: 240 - 600 seconds depending on target and how good the tracking is.

Without guiding: 120 s.

Light balance: daylight.

I always take darks, but agree with lensman about flats and bias.

Using the camera standalone without lap top I use a shutter cable to reduce shake and to get exposures longer than 30s.

I also use the 10s shutter delay to let vibrations settle.

During set up, focusing and subject framing I use 1600 ISO and jpg files only.
