in our somewhat damp climate, down jackets lose their insulating properties and take a long time to dry.

they will always last longer than synthetic jackets.

i only post this as i was in an outdoor store being pressured into buying a down jacket and as soon as i mentioned our climate two assistants agreed that in this country, synthetic may be better.
