Safe to clean Skywatcher OTA?

So, the Telrad fell off my dob a few days ago. Looks like the double-sided tape had dried. Weird since I've had another Telrad on my 6" newt alot longer and it's still stuck as it's supposed to be. Anyway, I bought some supposedly "super strong" double-sided tape (1 meter can hold 120 kg, if it's true). But I need/want to clean the OTA first since there's some residue left from the old tape. Is it safe to clean the outside of the OTA with something like acetone, alcohole or chemically clean benzine without loosing the paint job?

I just took a heap of baby wipes to mine OTA today and it did the trick. Got rid of tape residue and all sorts of muck and the paint hasn't peeled yet.

I've used white spirit, a small dab on kitchen towel and slowly wiped the residue until it peel off... works well and hasn't stripped the paint... and hopefully won't in the future. .

I'm nearly sure I read somewhere about someone using a hairdryer to heat up the residue to ease clean off eg with baby wipes...

Try this , best thing I've ever used for removing "Goo" ...

Baby wipes did the trick! OTA nice and clean and ready to refit the Telrad with the supposedly super strong double-sided tape.
