C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy double tail

Recommended Posts

Made this image tonight of C/2014 Q2 Lovejoy under possibly the worst conditions for comet photography. The moon was about 30 degrees from the comet and almost full. I wanted to try if I could catch the core, but was nicely surprised I got a significant part of the tail also.

16x120s of images were made using my QSI583. I didn't use any filters because I was afraid I would suppress the tail too much. The image was made using a TMB92 f5.5 refractor with TS2.5" flattener.

If I see this I'm looking forward for the new moon in two weeks. Hope to see it much more clearly by then.
