Hi folks,

Newbie query here....

Should I be able to pick Uranus out using my 8" Dob...???

I did venture out earlier this evening, but reckon the moon was so blumming bright that I was missing it...

Yes you should pick it up fine if it's dark enough. And yes the moon is way too big and close at the moment.

I picked it up easily enough with my ED120 refractor yesterday evening. It's a nice little pale blue disk at 257x with that scope. It looks similar with my 12" dob although I can push the magnification over 300x with that one.

No problem with an 8" scope but the moon is a pain when viewing dim targets!
