Herschels garnet star

First attempt at skteching , drawn at eyepiece with coloured artists pencils on a black sketch pad.

Very bright moon last night so background stars were quite faint , quite pleased with the colour tho.

Nice first sketch!

Super giant red variable star in the constellation Cepheus(Mu) and it is one of the largest and most luminous stars known in the milky away.

Thanks for the kind comments everyone , it was enjoyable spending more time than usual at the ep on the one subject , it certainly added to my appreciation of it.

Anyone can have a go at drawing and its a tad cheaper than AP    , heck even someone as hopeless at art as I am can put dots on a page , and the end result is pretty satisfying.

Nice sketch. I fully agree with your comments about sketching too. I think it requires no great artistic talent and enhances my appreciation of what I see at the eyepiece.

Nice sketch. A good reason to sketch if nothing else it certainly trains the eye to concentrate and pullout details .
