Huge Prominence

Pig

Recommended Posts

We just had a lucky break in the clouds here so I quickly grabbed the scopes and focused on the sun. There is a huge spraying prominence in the 4 O'clock position

I only got about 5 minutes in before the black clouds returned, pity because the sun is looking wonderful.

OK, As you asked for it in this thread....

White Light (green). Vixen SP102M, SP Mount, Baader IRUV filter + Solar Continum filter. ND5 film. Cannon 450D. Exp=1/125

Ha. Superscope 50.  50mm, with x2.5 powermate, IR-UV Filter. 1/30

Note the colour version is just processed slightly in GIMP (dittoe the white light photo)

The greyscale image has been futher processed in CCDSOFT (original version).

Getting there at last with the 450D! 8-)

I do have the raws to play with, but at the moment these give the feel ok

Great pics, Kev. I wish I could have grabbed full disc too, great to see its size in relation to the full disc!

I got lucky to get a few shots in  I had my Quark and 120mm scope out so this is in closer. Apologies for the dodgy false colour

AR12186 photobombed the shot, those spots get so jealous of the proms

U mean 11 - a white n black!

The spot was handy for focusing yesterday.

I have a real focussing issue on the solarscope. Begining to think i need to construct sone kind of attachment from the helical focuser to an motor with lots of gearing incorporated. For eyes its ok but your eyes auto adjust focus between infinity and (for me) 2 feet. A camera at focus doesnt.

Sent from my iPhone so excuse the typos!
