LoneStar
Hi everyone,I'm looking at getting a DSLR to learn photography, but also double its use for Milky Way starscapes and eventually, (once I've got a tracking motor or Goto) astrophotography.Have any of you got this smaller model? If so, how have you found it?I did look at the tried and test 1100D or 1200D but as I'm tiny, the 100D would suit my hands better. The 100D has a hybrid sensor, but I think this only comes into force on movies. I notice the 700D is quite similar, but a lot more money and larger! Thanks
Knight of Clear Skies
I've used a borrowed modded 100D a fair bit, this is probably my most successful image so far. I don't know how how it compares to other Canon models but it certainly works fine.
Alien 13
The 100D looks to have similar specs to my 650D but without the flip screen i dont know much about its conectivity but it should produce decent images with focal lengths of 500mm and below much above this and the arcsecond/pixel might be a bit tight i.e less than 1Alan

andynpage
I am looking at buying a secondhand Canon 1000D for astro use, mainly lunar , and planetary. Any comments re suitability, type of lens to buy, and use with 8"Nexstar would be appreciated.
Tinker1947
I have had a 1100D and now a 600D Modded, the main thing to go for is the flip screen on the rear of the camera, no more getting on my knees to focus or align, your money your choice..... Alien 13
+1 for a flip screen it is a big bonus for finding an object and focussing. If you can go for a camera with the kit lenses the 18-55mm and 75-300mm are realy rather good.Alan
