Radders
I'm going to reinstall my Qhy5l-ii camera on my laptop but do I really need to install the Ascom 6.1 platform that's on the disc? As I'm not doing guiding and only planetary imaging can I just get away with installing the EZ to software? Paul
Pete Presland
i can not imagine you will need the ascom platform, just a driver for the camera, unless ascom provides the driver. the drivers for the camera are here http://qhyccd.com/en/top/download/have you tried the Firecapture software with your camera? tekkydave
You will only need Ascom platform if you need to use an Ascom driver. You only need the driver if the program you are using to connect to the camera needs it. If you are not using anything else that uses Ascom like focusers, filter-wheels, mount control then don't bother installing it. If you use a program that needs it at any time it will be fairly obvious as the program won't be able to find the driver it needs and you should get an appropriate error message. Radders
Thanks for the replies. Will just install EZ planetary and the driver. I've had a go with Firecapture and I think it's easier to use than EZ planetary to be honest. Paul
