Help with Stellarium

I have used Stellarium in the past and i think its a great program but i recently had to reinstall my operating system (vista home premium) and so i have just reinstalled the copy of Stellarium that comes with S@N magazine. My problem is it now runs really slowly and i dont know why, it used to be great but now its stressing me out. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm not a PC expert but reinstalls often leave you with older drivers for things that you may have updated over time. Have you previously installed graphics card drivers that the reinstall has wiped, perhaps the re-install has left you with older versions of the DirectX drivers. Have you upgraded Quicktime to 7.4? I think thats only an issue with Starry Night but you never know...

Try installing latest v0.91, it loads much faster anyway, so should help.

I agree with Kevin. The version that comes with S@N is 0.9.0 and is much slower than the latest download 0.9.1. Update to the latest version

It's Ironic that a few weeks after the new version (0.9.1) came out, S@N magazine had the 'new' version on their cover disk.

But yes, download the latest version from the website http://www.stellarium.org/ and you sould be OK.

Cheers guys, ive installed the lasted direct x drivers and the latest version of Stellarium and it is working fine now :D

Glad you got it going again - I find it essential when observing (or I don't find anything!).
