Wild Duck Cluster

Last night (or this morning!) was another great occasion of a clear sky.

I always seem to have issues associated with the alignment process, but it seems that the solar alignment works particularly well based on Mars and Saturn, both clearly visible to me.

Having aligned the scope i was then able to use the handset to go to various features in the sky. Starting with some interesting doubles and then progressing. Being new, the handset is great as it can go to the interesting areas and i then know exactly what i am looking at!!

I was in awe when i saw the cluster, what a sight in the night sky. I spent a considerable time just looking at this area and trying the various EP to get better definition and search deeper.

It is certainly an area i will return too, but i guess there are many others similar.

m11  is beautiful has to be one of the best clusters, have you tried m13,m5,m22 and m23.

M11 is definitely one of my favourites. One of those real "wow!" moments

I just saw it last week in my 10" for the first time. It was like seeing it for the first time all over again! So rich! No ducks visible though - too many stars!
