Southern binocular objects?

I have a friend in Australia who is getting/has just got a pair of 10x50 binoculars to get out under the stars. To help him get started, I am trying to compile a list of worthwhile objects for him to chase down.

So, a request to southern-based members: What objects would you recommend? Are there any good resources (comparable with Turn Left at Orion) for southern observers?

Thanks.

Stephen O'Meara's Southern Gems edition of his Deep Sky Companions series is fantastic.

Also, Stargazing for Beginners: A Binocular Tour of the Southern Night Sky is absolutely brilliant. It's a PDF e-book which can be purchased online.
