Barlow question

Which is best,using a barlow before or after a filter wheel.

This image was with barlow after filter wheel,ie scope-filter wheel-barlow-camera.Does make any difference in quality if any?

Id try the other way if it was'nt for all this pesky cloud.

Not sure, but if you put it after the filter wheel it will increase the magnification more than if its before it... I think :-)

Yep I agree - the filter wheel should sit in front of the camera and after any barlow or reducer.

You got a nice pic there considering how low Saturn is.

Thanks brantuk,it didnt seem right to be magnifying the mono image before the filters.Fingers crossed for some breaks in cloud tonite:)

isnt Kim saying the opposite to that? "the filter wheel should sit in front of the camera  and after any barlow or reducer" camera,filter wheel, barlow/reducer.

whichever way you choose to go surely the only difference is image scale?

This is the methd in which saturn was taken.

2nd for me, probably this is because thats how i have always used mine. other than a slight change of image scale i am not sure it will matter. i hope i have not spent the last 2 years RGB imging with the barlow in the wrong place

if it's anything like my slr I find it makes no difference altho not got a pic of Saturn yet  have got a few lunar n Jupiter shots using both setups
