Amazing. To think, that the instrument you are using, gives us such rare insight to the powerful generator that sustains our lives, and the driving force of the whole planetary system that is held in the grip of this huge nuclear entity. It is an awesome sight, and I wonder how soon the day will come when other (Giant) stars can be similarly viewed. Technology is advancing at a rate that could make it a possibilty one day.

Thanks for showing them, they're truly extraordinary images.

Fantastic, Pete, as usual!

The close-up prominence is located at the bottom of the Sun in the larger view. Take a close look at the slight differences between both views. There is some movement of the plasma arcing between the fainter one heading east, toward the denser one, as well as thickening of the smaller bits above it. Incredible. Looks to be about 10 or 12 Earth diameters in length and maybe 6 or 7 in height.

And the Sun is quiet! :shock:
